I got the news yesterday that the annual B.C. Archaeology Forum has been scheduled. The event will be co-hosted by the Musqueam First Nation and the UBC Laboratory of Archaeology and held November 5-7. You can download a registration form here (MS-Word document)
If you aren’t familiar with it, the Archaeology Forum is a low-key conference which brings together many different stakeholders in B.C. Archaeology: First Nations, Government, Consultants, Academics, Students, and the Public. It is not your typical academic conference, although there are speakers and sessions and so forth. It is often focused on applied solutions to real-world problems and is always hosted or co-hosted by a First Nation. The forum is only 20 bucks to attend and everyone is welcome – no affiliation necessary. For more information email: firstname.lastname@example.org@uvic.ca
Keep an eye on the events link in the sidebar to the right where I will post more information as I hear about it. Incidentally, it’s about time the Forum came to Victoria, no?
